Bruce Poland, D.V.M Owner/Veterinarian
Dr. Bruce Poland started Walkertown Veterinary in June of 1982. Twenty five years later the hospital and Dr. Poland are still here or in Dr. Poland's own words they have been here "since the dawn of time". Dr. Poland was born in Winston-Salem, NC but spent his teen years in Massachusetts where he graduated high school. He spent his undergraduate college years at Colorado State University and N.C. state. Dr. Poland received his D.V.M. from Ohio State University.
Doctor Poland's family consists of his mother who lives in Winston-Salem and a brother. Dr. Poland lives in Winston-Salem with his two "sons" Rudy a 2 year old Corgi and Reese a 9 month old Dachshund.
When not working Dr. Poland loves cycling, collecting vintage stereos, and growing orchids.

Cheryl W. Scott, D.V.M. Veterinarian
Dr. Scott joined the practice in August of 1999. She grew up in Fort Worth Texas but has been in N.C. since 1999. Dr. Scott received her B.S. in Zoology from Texas A&M, a M.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas' Health Science Center Dallas in Dallas Texas, her D.V.M. from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Vet Medicine, and completed her internship at VCA Berwyn & Franklin Park Animal Hospitals & Referral Centers
in Chicago IL.
Dr. Scott lives in Kernersville,NC with her husband Larry and daughter Rebekah. They share their home with Ozzie (great Dane), Copper (lab mix), Romeo (standard poodle), Pagan (pug), and Osky (cat).
Dr. Scott likes spending her free time gardening, horseback riding, golfing, embroidering, playing the piano and viola, singing on her church praise team, playing volleyball and softball.

Jacob Mireles, D.V.M. Veterinarian
Dr. Mireles joins our staff all the way from Texas. He is a native Texan and received his DVM from Texas A&M. Dr. "M" is setteling into our practice nicely and is turning out to be a "littl jokester" which our staff loves. The clients have had nothing but positive things to say about him also.
Dr. Mireles just moved to Winston in June with is wife Patty Mireles, M.D. and their two labs Guiness and Bass. They are embracing our Carolina ways and can't wait to try some of our famouse pork BBQ!
When not at work you can find Dr. Mireles on the tennis court, fishing or watching whatever sport that is in season.
Favorite Part Of Job: Surgery; knowing that I have done my best each day to help people and their pets.
Annie Hurm Hospital Administrator
Annie moved to N.C. in the fall of 1998 from Northern Virginia and joined the staff of Walkertown Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2004. She holds a Business degree and an Applied Science degree.
Annie's family consists of her husband, Todd and her daughter, Cori. They have 2 dogs, Cricket and GiGi and 2 cats, Willow and Ashes.
While not at work Annie enjoys working on her flower gardens, traveling, reading, shopping, movies, spending time with family and friends, and watching her daughter dance.
Favorite Part of Job: The Awesome People that I work with. I like helping them have better lives by helping them have a better work life.
Renee Bullins Front Office Manager
Renee has been with the practice since January of 1990. Thus earning her the hospital's "loyalty" award. Renee has received continuing education in the accounting and business management fields. Renee can alway remember a face and a name and will great you by name.
Her family consists of her husband, Herman and her twin daughters, Breanna and Katrina. Their pets of many consists of her dogs Mojo,JoJo,Isis, and Petie. Plus too many cats to name.
In Renee's spare time you find her camping, doing yard work , hanging out with her family and cooking.

Sheri Frieze Senior Tech
Sheri joined our staff in 1997 and can do any position in the hospital. Sheri's reputation for being good at everything earned her our "Jack of All Trades" award. She grew up all over the world due to her father being in the Air force but spent her later teen years in Florida where she graduated from High School. She moved to N.C. 25 years ago.
Sheri lives in Walnut Cove with her husband Kenny and their 5 sons K.W., Jason, Jonathan, Josh, and Brandon. Sheri shares her home with 11 dogs, 1 cat and 4 horses.
Sheri's interest include horseback riding, motorcycle riding and kayaking.
Favorite Part of Job: I love learning more everyday and seeing all of the different dogs that come in.
Donna Morison Kennel Manager
Donna joined the staff in 2004 and was soon after promoted to Kennel Manager. Donna has a huge amount of compassion for the people and animals around her and is always willing to give a little extra to get the job done thus earning her our "extra mile" award.
Donna grew up in Buffalo,NY and High Point, NC. She lives in Belews Creek, NC with her husband Jeff. Donna also has a grown daughter, Brandi. Donna and Jeff share their home with their dogs, Rusty, Hope, and Tucker. They also have 2 cats, Jessica and Tabitha.
Donna enjoys spending time with her pets and family, scuba diving, going to the beach, photography and is the Carolina Hurricanes #1 fan.
Favorite Part of Job: I love playing and holding puppies and kitties.
Denise Allen Quality Assurance/Patient Care adviser.
Denise joined Walkertown Veterinary Hospital in August of 1999 in our Kennel but was later promoted to technician. Denise became our first ever Q.A. adviser in 2005. Denise makes everyone feel so special that she was awarded our "Best Friend" award.
Denise has lived in N.C. all of her life and she and her husband Ezra live in Belews Creek. Denise also has a daughter, Jodi and a grandson named Luke. Denise has two Pekingese dogs, Armand and Cricket as well as a Lab named Mandy.
Denise likes to spend her time reading, playing with Luke, and doing research on the computer.

Brenda White Master Certified Groomer
Brenda started with Walkertown Veterinary Hospital in 2005 and has served both as our groomer and in the kennel. Brenda takes master seminars and classes to help perfect her grooming craft and also does grooming competitions.
Brenda moved from Ohio to N.C. in 2004 with her husband Richard and their children Dusty, Danielle, and Katlynd. She has two grown children still in Ohio Vickie and Cody. Her pets consists of 2 standard Poodles, Tia and Gwenavere. Her mixed breed crew of Ralph, Frankie, Tiger, Gypsy, Star, Omar and Smeagoul, her 4 cats Walker, Townsend, Charlie, and Simon. She also has two horses Roxey and Zella.
Brenda spends her time away from work planting flowers, taking care of her pets, fishing and working on her new house.

Marie Roberts Technician
Marie joined the staff in April of 2003 as a kennel assistant. Her love of the job and understanding of the work got her promoted to technichian soon after. Marie continues to grow and improve on her skills so she earned our "most improved" award for 2006.
Marie is a life long resident of N.C. and now lives in Belews Creek with her two children Tommy and Lynn. They share their home with Sparky (lab mix), Jackie Boy (jack russel) and Rebel (boxer).
Marie likes to work on her flowers, painting, and spending time with her kids.

Michell Horton Part Time Kennel Assistant
Michell joined out staff originaly in 2006 and after a short leave she returned to our kennel in 2008. Michell is always willing to lend a hand so she was awarded our "Helping Hand" award in 2006.
Michell has lived in NC all of her life and graduated from East Forsyth High School in 2005. Michell has been involved with Wild Life Rehab and Doberman Breeding for several years. Michell also enjoys lending her home to "odd" pets such as sugar gliders and tranchulas. She has a Pekingese named Gabby and Dobermans named Anubis, Kella, Catori, Anamosa.
Michell lives in Kernersville with her parents. When not at work you will find Michell studying for her vet tech classes, spending time with her animals, fixing up her Ford Mustang and hanging out with friends.
Tammy Bowman Technician
Tammy started in our kennel in 2005 and has been recently promoted to technichian. Tammy grew up in Virginian and has been around animals all of her life. Tammy always finds work to do and received the "hard worker" award.
Tammy's family consists of her children Shanna and Jesse. Tammy has 5 dogs, Lucy, Charlie, Peaches, Chester, and Sweetie. She has a special place in her heart for Boarder Collies.
Tammy likes to spend her free time with her family and friends and her pets.

Anne Elliott Receptionist
Anne has been with us since 2004. She came to us fresh to vet world and has learned a lot. Anne's easy going personality earned her the "easy going" award. Anne graduated from East Forsyth High and ECPI Tech.
Anne has been in Kernersville all of her life and still lives in Kernersville with her husband David, daughter Ashley and twin daughters Michaela and Marisa. Anne and her family have many pets including 7 dogs, Tinker Bell, Gizzmo, Pixie, Dakota, Lily, Gabby and Snicker, 6 cats, 2 hamsters,and a guniea pig.
Anne loves going to the beach, listening to beach music and spending time with her kids.

Carla Anderson Receptionist/Kennel Staff
Carla joined our team in 2006 new to the veterinarian world but with lots of administrative management experience. She was such a great new employee that she earned our "best new addition" award for 2006. Carla is that super sweet voice that you will hear on the telephone.
Carla moved from Florida 2 years ago with her two boys Russel and Donnavan. Carla has exciting news--she and her fiance Jay are expecting a baby in July! (we are secretly hoping for a girl here at W.V.H.) Carla has 4 cats, and 2 dogs.
Carla enjoys fishing, bowling, reading, and doing anything with her kids.
Favorite Part of Job: I love meeting all of the "cuties" (animals).
