Dr. Fox received his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from the University of Missouri in Columbia and moved with his wife to Winston-Salem in 1984. He has practiced in the Winston-Salem area since then but bought Walkertown Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2014 from the then retiring Dr. Poland. Dr. Fox and his wife live in Wallburg, NC and they have a daughter who is attending college, studying Math, Physics and Environmental Sciences. They have 2 dogs and 1 cat that will be 19 years old in the fall of 2017. One of their dogs was born with a heart defect that limits her stamina and ability to play but she is sweet and gets along with everyone.
Dr. Fox has more hobbies than free time. They include golfing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, home improvement projects and bicycling but not necessarily in that order.
He once talked about doing a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail (end to end in one trip), typically a 6-month ordeal. However, in the fall of 2016, he hiked 70 miles in 6 days through the mountains of Virginia, in the rain. Although he enjoyed it and would do a 6 day hike again, he has since decided that through-hiking is for younger people with younger feet.
